Pakistanis purchased 97,900 cars during the first eight months of fiscal year 2025–26, a sharp rise from 67,267 units sold during the same period last year.
The latest data from the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturers Association shows the sector recovering strongly, with higher sales and production reflecting increased consumer demand and improving economic activity.
Car sales during the period rose by 45.53 percent, while vehicle production increased by 52.31 percent, reaching 104,652 units compared with 68,708 units recorded during the same months last year.
Major Brands See Strong Demand
Among major manufacturers, Honda recorded a 49.91 percent increase in sales, with 15,389 vehicles sold compared with 10,265 units during the corresponding period in the previous fiscal year.
Toyota also saw significant growth as combined sales of the Corolla and Yaris models climbed by 75.70 percent to 23,900 units, up from 13,602 units in the earlier fiscal period.
Suzuki Swift sales nearly doubled during the period, rising 99.33 percent to 10,555 units, while Hyundai Elantra sales increased to 1,743 vehicles compared with 965 units last year.
Small Cars Lead the Market
The Suzuki Alto remained the country’s best-selling car, with sales increasing to 36,694 units compared with 28,194 units sold during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Suzuki Cultus sales rose to 3,423 units from 1,887 units, while Suzuki Every recorded a sharp 250.03 percent increase, reaching 5,520 vehicles compared with 1,577 units previously.
Production Also Rises
Production figures reflected similar growth across manufacturers, with Honda output increasing by 57.77 percent to 15,880 units compared with 10,065 vehicles produced during the same period last year.
Toyota Corolla and Yaris production rose 76.85 percent to 24,475 units, while Suzuki Swift production climbed 96.46 percent to 10,684 units during the first eight months.
Hyundai Elantra production increased to 2,142 units from 1,135 units, while Suzuki Alto production reached 43,798 units and Suzuki Every output rose slightly to 3,905 vehicles.
Electric Vehicles Enter the Market
Electric vehicles also appeared in the market, with 210 units of the newly launched Dewan Honri-VE sold between July and February of the current fiscal year.
During the same period, manufacturers produced 208 units of the Dewan Honri-VE electric vehicle, showing early adoption of electric mobility within Pakistan’s automobile sector.
