District Education Authority Introduces School Security Measures in Lahore

Published by

In a bid to enhance student safety, the District Education Authority (DEA) Lahore has issued a strict ban on street vendors setting up stalls along school boundary walls. The directive applies to all public and private schools across the city, aiming to curb potential security risks and maintain a safe environment for students.

School heads have been instructed to immediately report any vendors near school premises to local authorities. Zonal heads are required to escalate unresolved cases to the assistant commissioner of the respective tehsil. The DEA emphasized that any lapses could result in disciplinary action against the school administration.

“This decision is a proactive measure to ensure the safety of our students. Any cart found outside a school or attached to its boundary wall will be considered a violation,” stated a DEA spokesperson.

The move comes amid growing concerns over school security and the safety of children in public spaces. Previously, street vendors operating near schools were seen as a minor issue, but recent assessments highlighted the potential risks they pose, prompting authorities to take decisive action.

Parents and guardians have largely welcomed the decision, noting that maintaining a secure perimeter around schools is essential for children’s wellbeing. Meanwhile, the DEA has urged communities to cooperate and report any violations promptly
