Dragon Ball: Age 1000 Announced for 2027 with New Toriyama Story

Published by

Bandai Namco officially dropped a massive announcement at the “Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri”. The franchise is expanding with a brand-new video game title: Dragon Ball: Age 1000.

Scheduled for a 2027 release, this project promises a fresh direction for the series. While details are scarce, the reveal confirms that original creator Akira Toriyama is heavily involved. He has designed the main character and outlined the game’s original story.

A New World Set 216 Years After Dragon Ball Z

The title “Age 1000” is a direct reference to the in-universe timeline. For context, the original Dragon Ball begins in Age 749, and the DBZ “Peaceful World Saga” concludes in Age 784. This new game jumps far into the future, taking place 216 years after the end of Z.

Hardcore fans might recognise this era. Age 1000 is a significant year in the lore of Dragon Ball Online. In that timeline, Future Trunks travels to this specific year to recruit “Time Patrol” members. Consequently, this project could be a reboot of Toriyama’s original notes for that series or a spiritual successor.

Toriyama’s Mystery Protagonist

The teaser trailer showcases a never-before-seen protagonist. Designed by Toriyama himself, this hero features distinctive silver hair and wears a green vest with the “Capsule Corp” logo.

Furthermore, the character wields a holographic wrist device and sports a “GS” emblem on their arm. The trailer heavily implies a connection to Earth’s greatest defender. The unnamed hero turns Super Saiyan, and Goku’s silhouette briefly flashes over him. This suggests the character is likely a descendant of Goku.

Next Update Coming in April

You won’t have to wait long for more concrete details. The developers confirmed that the next major update will drop at Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026.

The event takes place in Los Angeles, California, on April 18 and 19, 2026. Fans can catch the reveal in person or via the official livestream. Until then, the community is left to speculate on how this “Age 1000” adventure will reshape the Dragon Ball canon.
