Dropbox enables Offline Viewing

Dropbox Pro users will now be able to save a folder for offline viewing.

Offline viewing is helpful when users don’t have access to the internet and they have to work on some important files. The Dropbox blog states,

“This feature has been a top request from users, so we’re excited to bring it to our Dropbox Pro, Business, and Enterprise customers. With mobile offline folders, you can tag an entire folder to have its contents automatically synced to your phone or tablet—no need to mark individual files for download. Just open Dropbox while you’re connected to the internet, and the app will take care of the rest. So whether you’re on the go or off the grid, you’ll always have access to your most important info.”

Here’s how it works: Open Dropbox and click on the folder you want to view later. After that, click on “Available Offline” option. Dropbox will download the files to your device and make them available for later use. You can make changes to the folder offline and then update it once you go back online.

The offline feature enhances the productivity of Dropbox by reducing the downtime when someone is traveling or is in a remote location. Google has already introduced this option in Google Drive. One limitation is that it will be available to premium users only. Premium users are offered an account with paid subscription which has a set storage size more than the normal users who use it for free.

Dropbox is a file hosting service which offers cloud storage, personal cloud and file synchronization. Users can drop their files, pictures or any other thing in the Dropbox and then they can access it from any other devices.

This feature will be available to latest Android phones in a few days. iOS will get the update early next year.
