BISE Mardan has recorded mass failures among 9th and 10th grade students at dozens of schools, extending a pattern of poor results already seen at BISE Peshawar despite an educational emergency currently in force across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Only 30 schools under BISE Mardan managed to keep 9th grade student scores above 50 percent, with several institutions posting a complete washout.
At Government High School Takil in Swabi, all 13 candidates who sat the 9th grade exam failed, as did every student at Government College High School Dagai.
Government High Schools Khawari and Darwazgai in Nowshera each produced just one successful candidate, while Government High School Mazhound Gadoon in Swabi saw all 8 of its students fail.
Failure rates touched 89 percent and 76 percent at some schools, and nearly a dozen institutions could not push half their 9th grade students above the 50 percent mark.
Results for 10th grade painted an equally troubling picture. Among 10 schools reviewed, 9 failed to get even half their candidates to a 50 percent score.
At Government Higher Secondary School Mohabbat Khan in Mardan, only 1 of 27 students passed, and that too with a C grade. At Government Girls High School Mohib Banda, just 3 of 59 candidates cleared the 9th grade exam.
Government Girls Higher Secondary School Akora Khattak in Nowshera recorded a 94 percent failure rate, with only 2 of its 33 students passing.
Across the 10 schools assessed for 10th grade, only a single school managed to pass half its students, with candidates elsewhere failing in one subject or, in many cases, multiple subjects.
