The government of Punjab has announced that educational institutions across the province will remain closed from March 10 to March 31 as part of a scheduled holiday period for students and staff.
According to the Chief Minister, the provincial government has taken several immediate steps to conserve fuel and maintain essential services across the province.
A major decision includes the complete suspension of official fuel supply for provincial ministers until the petroleum crisis ends. Additionally, petrol and diesel allowances for government officers’ vehicles have been reduced by 50% with immediate effect.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced that all universities, colleges, and schools across Punjab will remain closed in view of the current emergency situation.
According to the minister, all examinations and assessments will continue as per the existing schedule, despite the temporary closure of educational institutions.

Authorities said academic activities will resume after the conclusion of the combined holiday period. The decision was taken to streamline the academic calendar and avoid disruptions caused by multiple short breaks during the same period.
Education officials noted that combining holidays with major religious and seasonal breaks also helps students and teachers travel to their hometowns without academic pressure and ensures smoother management of school schedules.
Earlier, the provincial education department had clarified that schools across Punjab were continuing regular classes and assessments as scheduled, dismissing rumors about unscheduled closures or a shift to online learning.
