Engro Fertilizers Limited has announced an increase of Rs. 150 per bag in its urea price, bringing the new rate to Rs. 4,435 per bag effective from April 4, 2026, according to market analysts at Arif Habib Limited.
The latest hike follows the company’s earlier reduction in discounts from Rs. 400 per bag to Rs. 150 per bag. With this revision, the remaining discount has now been fully withdrawn, pushing retail prices higher ahead of the upcoming fertilizer application cycle.
Other major fertilizer producers, including Fauji Fertilizer Company, are expected to implement similar price adjustments in the coming week, largely due to rising input costs.
The move comes amid weaker domestic demand, with Pakistan’s total urea sales for the first two months of 2026 standing at 468,000 tons, down 41% year-on-year, despite a partial recovery in February after record-high sales in December 2025.
Global urea prices have also surged, with Middle East granular urea reaching $750 per ton by the end of March, up from nearly $580 per ton at the start of the month a rise of over 29%, influenced by regional tensions.
The withdrawal of discounts and price increase signals a shift from demand-support measures toward margin protectionfor manufacturers, while farmers may face higher input costs for the upcoming crop season.
