FAb Partners with a German Company to Deploy Automated Spectrum Management System in Pakistan

The Frequency Allocation Board (FAB) has awarded a major contract to TeReSol Pvt. Ltd., the local partner of Germany’s LS telcom AG, to deploy an advanced Automated Spectrum Management Software (ASMS) system in Pakistan. The upgrade represents a key step in the country’s digital transformation efforts.

FAB, which regulates and allocates Pakistan’s radio frequency spectrum, plays a critical role in managing resources for telecom operators, broadcasters, satellite services, IoT networks, WiFi, and both public and private communication systems. It ensures efficient spectrum distribution for short-range devices, device-to-device (D2D) communication, non-terrestrial networks (NTN), and public protection and disaster relief (PPDR) applications.

The introduction of the ASMS will strengthen FAB’s ability to manage spectrum with precision and speed. The new system will automate workflows, improve operational efficiency, and enable accurate forecasting of future spectrum demand. It will also support interference-free use of national spectrum resources, enhancing data-driven decision-making across the board.

With operations in more than 100 countries, LS Telcom AG is known globally for its leadership in spectrum management and network optimization. Its expertise spans all radio communication technologies, making it a trusted partner for governments and regulators worldwide.

The project includes the installation, commissioning, data migration, and integration of the ASMS at FAB headquarters in Islamabad. It will also connect seamlessly with FAB’s radio monitoring stations in major cities across Pakistan. According to the contract, the deployment and transition are expected to be completed within 180 days.

This initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s Digital Vision of Pakistan, which focuses on fostering technological innovation, e-governance, and digital inclusion. The upgraded ASMS will boost national spectrum efficiency and support emerging technologies like 5G, IoT, AI-based networks, and smart city solutions.

By modernizing spectrum governance, FAB aims to enable smarter, more transparent management of this vital national resource. The project is expected to drive socio-economic growth, create new jobs, and improve public service delivery. It will also advance Pakistan’s ICT and telecom sectors, laying the groundwork for a more connected and knowledge-based digital economy.
