Fable Leak Reveals Spooky Dungeons & Massive Open World

Published by

A massive leak has just hit the internet. A wealth of concept art for the highly anticipated Fable reboot has found its way online. This significant breach comes just one day before the game’s official appearance at the Xbox Developer Direct on January 22.

A new report showcases approximately 29 leaked pieces of concept art. These images allegedly come from the portfolio of an artist who worked on the project. Most of these illustrations tease a large open world and highlight specific key locations. However, the report did not verify the origin dates of the illustrations. Therefore, the final product may differ from these concepts. Fans should take this information with a grain of salt.

Fable: Bloodstone Returns in a New Form

The vast majority of the leaked illustrations revolve around a major location. An in-universe signpost identifies this area as “Bloodstone”. The art depicts a large city containing a mighty castle, a bustling market district, and numerous houses built into the surrounding valley.

Long-time fans will recognise the name. In Fable 2, Bloodstone was a pirate-infested harbour town where players met the character Reaver. However, Playground Games is reportedly treating this title as a full series reboot. Consequently, this version of “Bloodstone” likely differs from the original but may serve a similar narrative purpose.

The Hamlet & Dangerous Dungeons

Another prominent location in the leak is the “Hamlet”. This area consists of a small cluster of wooden shacks atop a grassy hill. Reports suggest this could be the protagonist’s home village. Furthermore, speculation indicates the game’s antagonist might flood this location. This aligns with previous Fable games, which often disrupt the hero’s home life as an inciting incident.

Finally, the leak reveals dark underground dungeons. The concept art shows the protagonist mantling metallic cages and navigating debris. The stone-built structures feature sparse lighting from torches and sunlight cracking through walls. One striking image teases a battle with a werewolf in this subterranean setting. Additionally, treasure chest designs appear in the files, with one specifically referencing the chest from the original Fable.

Playground Games, the developer behind Forza Horizon, originally took charge of the franchise in 2020. While the game previously targeted a 2025 release window, that date was eventually pushed back. Fans hope to verify these leaks during the “first extended look” at the Xbox Developer Direct tomorrow.
