Saudi authorities have denied social media reports that a suicide bomber was arrested at Masjid al-Haram in Makkah, saying the claims are false. The statement was posted on X on Friday.
According to media reports, security authorities said a man was detained for harassing passersby and spreading fear and panic among them. They confirmed that no suicide bombing took place.
The suspect was dealt with immediately, the necessary legal procedures were completed, and he was referred to the Public Prosecution. Authorities have not disclosed his identity or condition.
The reports had claimed that a suspected bomber wearing an explosive vest approached the Kaaba before security personnel apprehended him. The authorities said there was no truth to these claims.
