FBR to Launch Online Auction for Seized Vehicles

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced the launch of an online e-auction system for non-customs paid vehicles, aimed at bringing transparency, efficiency, and better revenue generation from the disposal of confiscated and tampered vehicles.

The decision was discussed in a high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, where FBR officials presented the new e-auction module. The system is designed to ensure fairness in the bidding process and to streamline the auction procedure for vehicles seized by customs.

As part of the move, the FBR has also finalized a new Customs General Order (CGO) for the disposal of such vehicles, developed after detailed review and deliberations by a sub-committee. The CGO has been formally approved, paving the way for implementation.

Senator Ishaq Dar said the step reflects the government’s commitment to “technology-driven solutions that not only improve transparency but also conserve public resources and maximize revenue.” The meeting was also attended by the Minister for Law and Justice, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, the FBR Chairman, and other senior officials.

This marks a significant shift towards digital governance in Pakistan’s customs and revenue system, with the online module expected to eliminate loopholes and ensure smoother vehicle auctions.
