Former NCCIA Director General Suspended with Immediate Effect

The federal government has suspended the former Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), Waqaruddin Syed, with immediate effect. The Establishment Division issued the official notification regarding this development on Wednesday.

According to the official notification, the government has placed Waqaruddin Syed under suspension for an initial period of 120 days. This decision invokes the “Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020”. Consequently, the suspension remains effective immediately and will continue until further notice.

Waqaruddin Syed is a Grade-20 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP). The Establishment Division confirmed that this move is part of ongoing administrative and disciplinary proceedings against the officer.

Previously, the government removed Waqaruddin Syed from his post as Director General of the NCCIA on October 28, 2025. That decision followed various allegations leveled against him. Since his removal last year, he had been awaiting a new posting within the Establishment Division.

However, the authorities have not yet disclosed specific details regarding the allegations or the current findings of the investigation.
