The federal government has decided to replace the free electricity facility for power sector officers in grades 17 to 21 with a monthly electricity allowance.
Under the new arrangement, officers will receive payments based on their previous free electricity entitlement, calculated at Rs30 per unit.
Grade 17 officers will receive Rs15,858 against 450 units, while grade 18 officers will be paid Rs21,990 for 600 units.
Grade 19 officers will receive Rs37,594 in place of 880 free units. Grade 20 officers will get Rs46,992 against 1,100 units, while grade 21 officers will receive Rs55,536.
The free electricity facility for power sector officers was withdrawn in light of a High Court decision. The Power Division had also sent a letter to the relevant authorities regarding the termination of free electricity supplies.
The new allowance will replace the free electricity units previously provided to officers in grades 17 to 21.
