Fresh Internet Disruption Hits Pakistani Netizens With Slow Speeds
Pakistani internet users are facing yet another frustrating disruption, with a massive spike in PTCL internet outage reports flooding in this afternoon. According to Downdetector data, complaints began surging around 2:40 PM, reaching over 140 reports in minutes, a sharp jump from the usual baseline of just one report.
This sudden surge is affecting users nationwide, with many reporting complete loss of connectivity, slow browsing speeds, and intermittent packet drops. Social media platforms are now flooded with angry posts as students, businesses, and gamers alike vent their frustration at yet another major service hiccup.
It is not just PTCL, but other providers such as Nayatel and Transworld are also facing widespread issues, particularly with their streaming services.
We are experiencing a nationwide internet slowdown due to an outage in one of our two upstream providers. This issue is impacting a major part of internet traffic across Pakistan.
Our teams are actively monitoring the situation and working closely with provider.

Ironically, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja said yesterday that the Ministry was bringing 5G to seven major cities in Pakistan, even as internet continues to glitch across the country with slow speeds and loading times.
No officials or service providers have issued an official statement on the cause of the disruption yet, but such widespread outages are likely due to Jeddah fiber cuts. PTA has previously hinted that these issues will likely continue for more than a month.
What is odd about these internet disruptions is that basic communication services such as WhatsApp work just fine for simple texting, however, any larger website lags or takes some time to load.
