Mudasser Shafiq Appointed as Acting Chief Financial Officer at Telenor Pakistan

Telenor Pakistan has announced the appointment of Mudasser Shafiq as its Chief Financial Officer, marking a key leadership transition at a time of structural change in Pakistan’s telecommunications sector.

Shafiq brings more than 18 years of experience in the telecom industry and has held multiple senior finance roles across complex operating environments. His appointment reflects the company’s focus on strengthening financial governance, supporting strategic execution, and ensuring continuity as the organization moves forward under its evolving ownership and operating framework.

In his role as CFO, Shafiq will oversee the company’s financial strategy, governance, and reporting functions, while supporting enterprise-wide decision-making and long-term planning. His responsibilities will include maintaining financial discipline, managing risk during ongoing transformation, and providing data-driven insights to support leadership and operational teams.

Shafiq holds an MBA in Finance, is ACCA qualified, and has completed an Executive MBA from Lahore University of Management Sciences. His professional background combines strong technical expertise with strategic and commercial acumen, aligning with the company’s emphasis on resilient and forward-looking financial leadership.

Telenor Pakistan said the appointment underscores its commitment to strong governance and effective financial stewardship as the company continues to navigate industry consolidation, regulatory complexity, and rising investment demands across the sector. During the announcing press conference, PTCL maintained that the original talent from Telenor will be adjusted in the new merger, and retained.

The company added that Shafiq’s leadership will play a critical role in supporting stability, execution, and long-term sustainability in the next phase of Telenor Pakistan’s operations.
