At least four people were injured in a gas leakage blast at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred in the university’s Iqbal Block, affecting a classroom and causing burns to some students and teachers.
The university’s official Facebook page confirmed the incident, stating,
“Situation is under control. We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured ones.”
Two students with severe burns have been shifted to the hospital and are in critical condition, while others with minor injuries received first aid at the university dispensary.
Islamabad Police spokesperson Jawad Taqi confirmed that four people were injured and added that the fire brigade successfully extinguished the blaze.
NUML, one of Islamabad’s prominent educational institutions, has strict safety protocols, but this incident highlights the importance of timely emergency response. Authorities are investigating the cause of the gas leakage blast to prevent similar incidents in the future.
