Google Developer Groups (GDG) Islamabad has officially kicked off one of its most ambitious DevFest seasons yet, with plans to train more than 700 developers across Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The initiative, built around hands-on technical workshops and a flagship DevFest conference, aims to accelerate local expertise in AI, cloud technologies, mobile development, and modern app engineering—areas now central to Pakistan’s fast-evolving tech ecosystem.
GDG Islamabad structured this year’s DevFest into two major phases to maximize impact: the Road to DevFest workshop series and the Main DevFest Conference, scheduled for 14 December 2025 at Ramada Hotel by Wyndham, Islamabad.
Phase 1: Road to DevFest Workshops Gain Strong Momentum
The ongoing workshop series has already attracted hundreds of developers eager to gain practical exposure to real-world Google technologies. Sponsored by Junoon Pakistan, the sessions are offered free to selected participants and hosted at NIC Islamabad and Innovista Rawalpindi.
The first workshop, a Vertex AI Master Class led by Osama Amjad (AI Lead Engineer, AIO), brought in more than 80 developers who learned how to build and deploy AI-powered products using Google’s Vertex AI ecosystem.
Next, a deep-dive workshop on the Agent Development Toolkit, conducted by Abdul Rauf (Associate Director AI, S&P Global), trained over 60 participants on building both basic and advanced AI agents, an area rapidly transforming enterprise automation.
The final workshop of Phase 1, focused on Firebase Studio, will be led by M. Jahanzaib (Sr. Mobile Engineer, Bingeable Technologies), introducing developers to vibe coding and efficient mobile-app workflows using Firebase tools.
To widen participation, GDG Islamabad partnered with WECON to offer AI training specifically for female entrepreneurs and students. The session, conducted by Ali Naqi (Co-Manager, GDG Islamabad), centered on using NotebookLM for academic, business, and creative applications—continuing GDG Islamabad’s mission to make AI literacy accessible.
Phase 2: The Main DevFest Conference on 14 December
The season will culminate in the highly anticipated DevFest 2025 Conference at Ramada Hotel Islamabad. The event, powered by Bogo Liv with BookKaru as ticketing partner, will feature:
- Keynote speakers from Pakistan’s leading tech organizations
- Expert-led technical tracks in AI, cloud, and mobile development
- Panel discussions on Pakistan’s digital future
- Community-driven sessions and networking with industry leaders
- Tickets will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis, with email notifications issued upon payment.
DevFest 2025 is all se to become GDG Islamabad’s role as a leading force in AI education, developer upskilling, and community-driven innovation.
