Google Adds Foldable Camera Split View Feature to Pixel 9 Pro Fold
Foldable phones promise better multitasking, yet software often lags behind the hardware. Google is now addressing that gap with a camera update for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, bringing a feature inspired by the upcoming Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
The update improves how users review photos while shooting. It lets photographers preview captured images on the left side of the foldable display. At the same time, the live camera viewfinder stays active on the right side. As a result, users no longer need to leave the camera screen to check their shots.
This split-screen camera preview feels long overdue. Many rival foldable phones have offered similar functionality for years. Still, its arrival marks a meaningful upgrade for Pixel 9 Pro Fold owners who rely on the device’s large screen.
Google has added a dedicated button below the shutter to enable the feature. With a single tap, users can review images instantly without interrupting the shooting flow. The interface keeps things simple and familiar, which aligns with Google’s design approach.
In addition, the preview panel is not limited to photos from the current session. Users can also access their full photo library directly from the camera. However, this option essentially acts as a shortcut to Google Photos rather than a separate gallery.
