Google has set the date for its annual developer conference, and the company is once again putting AI at the center of the stage. The event will run on May 19 and 20 at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California. It begins at 10AM PT on May 19, which is 5PM UTC. As in previous years, Google will livestream all keynotes, product demos, and developer sessions.
The company has already confirmed several major updates. Expect fresh announcements around Gemini AI, Android, Chrome, and Google Cloud. These platforms form the backbone of Google’s software ecosystem, and I/O often signals where the company is heading next.
Last year, Google I/O leaned heavily into artificial intelligence. The company introduced updates to its Pro and Flash Gemini models. It also rolled out Imagen 4, its latest image generator, and Veo 3, an AI video generator designed to create more realistic clips. Those launches showed how serious Google is about competing in the fast-moving AI race.
This year’s conference will likely continue that momentum. Google is expected to share new AI model upgrades and improvements to Gemini AI. At the same time, developers are waiting for a preview of Android 17, which carries the codename Cinnamon Bun. The stable version is scheduled for release in June, so I/O should offer an early look at new features and system changes.
Beyond smartphones, Google may also update several other platforms. That list includes Android XR, Wear OS, Android TV, and Google Workspace. Each of these products plays a key role in Google’s broader strategy across devices, mixed reality, and productivity tools.
In short, Google I/O 2026 looks set to reinforce one message. AI is no longer an experiment inside Google. It is now the company’s main story, and developers will be watching closely on May 19.
