Google Launches Veo 3.1 and Upgrades Flow AI Filmmaking Tool

Google has unveiled Veo 3.1, the latest version of its AI-powered video generation model, promising cinematic realism, richer audio, and improved storytelling accuracy. Alongside this, Google has rolled out a massive update to its Flow AI filmmaking tool, now offering creators enhanced control over scene editing, lighting, and motion continuity.

Veo 3 and Flow AI were first introduced at Google I/O 2025, revolutionizing AI-assisted video creation. Following strong community feedback for more creative flexibility and realism, Google’s new release focuses on empowering filmmakers and content creators with professional-grade control and audio features.

According to Google, Veo 3.1 introduces enhanced textures, lighting, and sound design, producing videos that feel more natural and cinematic. The update also improves prompt adherence, allowing the AI to better follow storytelling cues and user intent.

With the new Flow AI, users can now:

• Extend clips up to a minute or more using AI-generated motion continuity.
• Add or remove elements with automatic lighting and shadow adjustments.
• Use multiple reference images to define characters, objects, or styles for cohesive scene creation.
• Generate rich audio directly within the AI video output.
• Create seamless transitions between starting and ending images.

A Google spokesperson stated,

“With Veo 3.1 and the new Flow tools, we’re giving creators cinematic-level control powered entirely by AI  from script to screen.”

The upgraded Veo 3.1 model is now live in the Gemini app, while the enhanced Flow AI tool is available globally starting today.
