Google Doodles is a tradition as old as Google itself. The company regularly celebrates local and international holidays, festivals, events and days with a historic value using a customized Google logo on its homepage.
Continuing a yearly tradition, Google Pakistan’s homepage today has been adorned with a nationalistic illustration that features Pakistan Monument, an internationally-recognized monument situated in the country’s capital Islamabad, lit up beautifully under a starry night with Google’s logo in golden color in the foredrop.
Starting in 2011, Google has marked Pakistan’s Independence Day regularly on August 14th each year. The first independence doodle was relatively simple enough to feature national symbols ‘Minar-e-Pakistan’ and ‘Crescent and Moon’, the illustrations got more representative overtime.
An apt choice for the occasion this year, Pakistan Monument is a beautiful memorial which was erected only after its proposed blueprint won a competition arranged by Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners (PCATP) to choose a design that best represented Pakistan and its people.
