Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formally accepted the resignation of Faisal Iqbal Ratyal from his position as Director General Telecom, MP II Scale, in the Information Technology and Telecommunication Division, effective October 20, 2025. His exit from the post is tied to his transition to a higher assignment.
The federal cabinet recently approved Faisal Iqbal Ratyal as the new Chief Executive Officer of the National Information Technology Board on October 17, 2025. The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication issued the formal notification for his appointment around October 20, the same date his resignation from the DG Telecom role took effect. He will serve a three-year term as CEO under the Special Professional Pay Scale I on a contractual basis.
Before moving into the top position at NITB, he had been working as the Acting CEO since May 2025. Ratyal previously held the role of Director General Telecom within the IT and Telecom Division and brings over two decades of experience in the IT and telecom sectors. His portfolio includes leading major national projects such as the Huawei Safe City initiatives in Islamabad and Lahore, overseeing the Huawei CPEC OFC Phase 1 project, and managing the nationwide launch of 3G and 4G services.
