Govt Enforces 10% Women’s Job Quota Across Federal Departments

The federal government has directed all ministries and departments to strictly implement the 10% women’s job quota in public sector employment, reinforcing its commitment to gender equality and inclusion in governance.
According to an official circular, all ministries, divisions, and attached institutions must immediately review their staffing details and submit updated records showing compliance with the women’s quota. The data will be compiled into a comprehensive report to identify departments that are lagging behind.
A senior Establishment Division official stated,
“This directive ensures that women are represented fairly in every department in both policy and execution roles.”
Departments have also been asked to provide details of:
- Sanctioned posts
- Positions filled through the women’s quota
- Vacant quota seats and reasons for non-utilization
Those seeking relaxation from hiring bans must formally notify authorities to ensure no women’s quota seat remains unfilled due to administrative delays.
The move aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to bridge Pakistan’s gender gap, as women remain underrepresented in mid and senior-level federal positions. The enforcement of this policy is also seen as part of broader public sector reform and the promotion of inclusive decision-making.
