The government has officially launched the Pak ID mobile application to streamline vehicle purchase, sale, and transfer processes, enabling citizens and overseas Pakistanis to complete transactions digitally with biometric verification.
Developed by National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), the app allows users to enter a vehicle’s registration number, chassis number, and owner details to initiate secure ownership transfers significantly reducing fraud risks and paperwork.
Previously, overseas Pakistanis were required to obtain embassy-verified authority letters to transfer vehicles. With the Pak ID app, the entire process can now be completed online through biometric authentication, eliminating the need for physical documentation.
Officials said the digital workflow ensures that only verified owners can authorize transfers, effectively preventing forged documents and unauthorized sales.
The launch ceremony was attended by DG Excise Umar Sher Chattha and NADRA Chief Project Officer Rehman Qamar, who emphasized the app’s role in modernizing vehicle administration.
Authorities noted the initiative will make vehicle transactions faster, safer, and more transparent, particularly benefiting overseas Pakistanis who previously faced procedural hurdles.
The Pak ID platform is part of Pakistan’s broader push toward e-governance and digital public services, aiming to reduce fraud and improve ease of doing business in vehicle ownership and registration.
