Govt Pushes For Resolution Of Pending It Telecom Cases

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has requested comprehensive details of long-standing court cases linked to the Ministry of IT and Telecom, particularly those with major financial implications.

As per insider sources, the Cabinet Division has instructed the ministry to submit information, including case titles, financial stakes, litigation duration, and the legal teams representing the government.

This initiative is part of a wider effort to resolve critical legal disputes involving federal ministries. The Attorney General’s Office is exploring various legal avenues, such as urging courts to fast-track hearings, considering out-of-court settlements, and reinforcing legal representation with expert attorneys.

Additionally, sources indicate that mediation or arbitration may be an option in certain cases. The government is reviewing previous legal strategies and evaluating the possibility of merging similar cases to simplify the litigation process.

The Ministry of IT and Telecom has also been directed to assess the efficiency of its legal teams and provide a breakdown of expenses related to ongoing cases. The government’s primary objective is to enhance legal representation and reduce financial liabilities.

A final policy decision will be made after analyzing the ministry’s report, with the Attorney General’s Office and the Ministry of Law and Justice spearheading efforts to expedite case resolutions.
