Govt to Launch Digital Youth Hub This Month

ISLAMABAD: The government is set to launch the Digital Youth Hub this month, a key initiative aimed at equipping young people with in-demand skills and enhancing their employment prospects. The project is in its final stages, following the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who presided over a review meeting on the National Youth Employment Plan in the federal capital on Thursday.

The Digital Youth Hub is designed to align youth training programs with current market and industry demands, ensuring that young Pakistanis gain practical skills to thrive both locally and internationally. As part of the broader Prime Minister’s Youth Program, this initiative seeks to streamline access to vocational training and employment opportunities. The PMYP has already made significant strides in youth empowerment, having disbursed Rs209 billion in loans to 31,700 young entrepreneurs through the Prime Minister Youth Business and Agriculture Loan Scheme over the past eight months.

During the meeting, the prime minister emphasized the need for regular coordination with local industries to identify skill requirements and enhance workforce readiness. He also directed officials to establish a comprehensive database to monitor the evolving demands of the job market.

To oversee the progress of the National Youth Employment Plan, Shehbaz Sharif announced that he would personally chair monthly review meetings. The plan outlines support for 2.4 million to 6 million young people over the next four years, focusing on vocational training and skill development to boost their chances of securing employment.

Highlighting the importance of this initiative, the prime minister described the youth of Pakistan as the country’s most valuable asset. He stressed that the government is committed to empowering young people by providing international-standard training that not only meets domestic market demands but also enhances the export of skilled manpower.

The meeting was informed that the Digital Youth Hub will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between youth skills and market needs. By offering specialized training programs, the platform aims to address the requirements of both local industries and international organizations.

The premier expressed appreciation for the efforts of all relevant ministries and institutions involved in the project, urging them to maintain momentum to ensure its timely launch. With the introduction of the Digital Youth Hub, Pakistan is taking a significant step forward in its mission to empower its youth and strengthen the national workforce.
