Green Transportation: Balochistan Launches Electric Bike Program

The Balochistan Cabinet has approved a new electric bike scheme aimed at providing affordable and environmentally friendly transportation to the general public. The scheme, announced during the 21st cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, offers electric bikes with a 30% subsidy and flexible easy installment plans through bank financing.

“Electric bikes will be provided on easy installments to people from all walks of life,” said the Chief Minister, highlighting the government’s commitment to sustainable mobility.

This initiative is designed to support students, working women, and government employees, helping them overcome transportation challenges while promoting green energy solutions. With growing urban traffic and rising fuel costs, electric bikes present an affordable and eco-friendly alternative for daily commuting.

In addition to the bike scheme, the provincial cabinet also approved:

  • A health insurance program for government employees.
  • Audits of advance medical payments and the Public Endowment Fund.
  • Expansion of the Enterprises Development Program to Gwadar, Kech, and Awaran.

The Chief Minister stressed that public funds collected through taxes are a trust of the people and that government resources must benefit the majority rather than a privileged few.

The electric bike scheme is expected to reduce transportation costs for thousands while also promoting environmental sustainability. This initiative aligns with the provincial government’s broader vision of inclusive development and green energy adoption.
