Grok Gets Memory Feature To Compete With Chatgpt And Gemini

Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has introduced a new Grok chatbot memory feature aimed at enhancing personalization and competing with top rivals like ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.

On Wednesday night, xAI revealed the beta rollout of a memory feature for Grok chatbot that allows it to retain information from previous conversations. This upgrade lets Grok deliver more tailored responses based on a user’s interaction history, making it smarter and more user-focused over time.

The memory function is now available on Grok.com and through the iOS and Android apps, although it’s currently restricted for users in the EU and U.K. For those with access, the feature can be managed through the Data Controls page in the settings menu. Users also have the ability to delete specific memories directly from the Grok web interface, with Android support coming soon.

xAI has stated that this memory capability will also be integrated into the Grok experience on X in the future.

This move brings Grok in line with competitors. ChatGPT already features a memory system, recently enhanced to reference a user’s complete chat history. Meanwhile, Google’s Gemini includes persistent memory for generating individualized responses.

“Memories are transparent,” said the official Grok account on X. “You can see exactly what Grok knows and choose what to forget.”

With the addition of the Grok chatbot memory feature, xAI continues its effort to close the gap with leading AI chatbots by improving user personalization and control.
