The Higher Education Commission has directed universities and degree-awarding institutions (DAIs) across Pakistan to resume physical classes starting April 1, 2026.
In an official notification issued on March 31, the commission instructed all public and private universities to restore on-campus academic activities, marking a return to regular operations.
The decision follows earlier directives issued on March 10 regarding austerity and fuel conservation measures, which had impacted routine academic schedules.
Authorities have now advised vice chancellors, rectors, and institutional heads to ensure full compliance and make necessary arrangements for reopening campuses.
The directive applies to institutions across all regions, including Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Officials confirmed that the notification has been shared with relevant federal and provincial education departments to ensure smooth implementation.
The move signals a shift back to normal academic activities after temporary restrictions introduced in response to prevailing conditions.
Students and faculty are expected to return to campuses as universities resume regular teaching, research, and administrative functions.
