The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) has approved two new Master’s degree programs at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU), expanding postgraduate education opportunities for students and strengthening the university’s academic offerings.
According to the university administration, HEC has granted approval for the launch of a Master of Science in Computer Science (MS Computer Science) program. The program will be offered through the university’s Computer Science Department, which has already been operating successfully and contributing to academic development.
In addition, the university has received approval to introduce a Master of Science in English Linguistics (MS English Linguistics) in the Department of English. The new postgraduate programs are expected to boost research activities and enhance the quality of higher education at the institution.
Vice Chancellor Madad Ali Shah said the university is committed to promoting quality higher education and researchwhile providing students with academic opportunities aligned with modern professional and educational needs.
He noted that the introduction of these programs will expand opportunities for students to pursue advanced studies and research, while also contributing to the improvement of higher education standards in the region.
The vice chancellor also expressed confidence that faculty and students will work together to achieve progress in knowledge, research, and innovation, helping position the university among leading educational institutions in Pakistan.
