HEC Updates Curriculum for Business and Management Degree Programs
In a major academic reform, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has revised the curriculum for Business and Management degree programs, aiming to align higher education with global standards and evolving industry needs. The updated syllabus covers BBA, BS, MBA, EMBA, MS, and Associate Degree programs, ensuring modernized learning outcomes and practical relevance.
The revision was carried out by the National Curriculum Revision Committee (NCRC) during a detailed session held at the Institute of Management Sciences (IMSciences), Peshawar. The meeting brought together leading academicians, business educators, and industry experts from across the country to update academic content according to market trends and international benchmarks.
According to HEC’s official statement, the updated curriculum emphasizes entrepreneurship, digital transformation, sustainability, and leadership development to better prepare graduates for the modern corporate environment. The review process was facilitated by HEC’s Curriculum Division in collaboration with the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and guided by HEC’s Undergraduate and Graduate Education Policies 2023.
Dr. Naukhez Sarwar, Professor and Principal at NUST Business School, who chaired the session, stated,
“The new curriculum bridges the gap between academic theory and business practice, ensuring graduates are equipped to meet real-world challenges.”
Similarly, Dr. Farooq-e-Azam Cheema, Provost of KSBL Karachi, added that the revision “focuses on innovation, case-based learning, and international competitiveness to make Pakistan’s business graduates more employable.”
The HEC emphasized that this reform is part of its broader strategy to modernize higher education, promote academic consistency, and foster industry-academia collaboration. Experts believe this step will enhance Pakistan’s academic reputation and better integrate local business education with global economic needs.
