A video recently surfaced on X explaining how the highly anticipated Fuel Quota Mobile App might work in Pakistan. However, the National Information Technology Board (NITB) and the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication (MoITT) did not personally share this video. But the video does contain logos of the MoITT and NITB.
First, consumers must register their vehicle details. The vehicle owner sends their CNIC and vehicle information via SMS to the code 9771. Consequently, the system processes this initial request quickly. Within 30 seconds, the consumer receives a registration confirmation message. This SMS provides a specific fuel code and details the user’s allotted fuel quota.
Next, the consumer must generate an active voucher for the pump. To achieve this, they send the newly received fuel code back to 9771 via SMS. Afterward, the system sends a unique voucher number to the consumer within 20 seconds. Once the consumer secures the voucher number, they verbally provide the voucher number and their vehicle registration number to the fuel station attendant.
Finally, the attendant verifies the transaction. They enter the customer’s details into the fuel quota app, namely the National Fuel Pass (NFP) App. Instantly, the application displays the verified vehicle registration and the exact allotted fuel quota. Therefore, the attendant knows precisely how much fuel to authorize and dispense.
