“We did it”. That is the current sentiment echoing across the Highguard community. Wildlight has officially confirmed that the popular 5v5 Raid Mode is here to stay. Initially, the studio introduced the mode as a limited-time event. However, strong player engagement has turned it into a permanent fixture.
Wildlight made the decision based on hard data. The studio announced on X that they monitored player activity closely over the weekend. Surprisingly, they saw a “fairly even split” between the original 3v3 mode and the new 5v5 mode.
The studio tweeted:
You’ve been asking, and we’re happy to share—5v5 Raid Mode is here to stay!
This engagement metric was all the proof Wildlight needed. Consequently, they acted quickly to lock the mode in.
Fans have welcomed the news with open arms. Many players felt the game’s map was too large for the standard 3v3 setup. While 3v3 offers a slower, methodical experience, 5v5 utilises the map size much better. It delivers a fast-paced and frantic combat experience.
Social media is currently filled with celebratory posts. One top Reddit reply reads, “5v5 absolutely rocks”. Another user noted that while the game still has issues, this update is a major step in the right direction. Even sceptics are holding off on uninstalling the game to give the permanent mode a proper chance.
Despite the celebration, challenges remain. The Highguard studio CEO recently commented on the state of the game’s reception. He noted that:
The toxicity is challenging.
Furthermore, he is currently questioning if revealing the game at The Game Awards was the right decision. He admits he will “continue to ask myself” that question moving forward.
For now, however, the players have secured a significant victory. Highguard 5v5 is live, and it is not going anywhere.
