A new leak suggests Honor may be preparing a compact phone with unusually big ambitions. According to the tip, Honor is testing a smartphone with a 6.36-inch flat display and an 8,000 mAh battery. That battery size stands out immediately. Devices in this screen category rarely carry such a large cell.
The source does not confirm the name. However, this device could be the Magic9, which the same source mentioned earlier this month. It is also possible that Honor is working on a different model. For now, Magic9 seems like the safest label.
The camera setup looks equally ambitious. The phone is said to feature a 200MP main camera. It will reportedly use a 1/1.28-inch type sensor. In addition, the device may include a 50MP ultrawide camera. A 64MP periscope telephoto camera is also expected. That zoom lens could use a 1/2-inch sensor.
However, not everything is changing. The phone will likely skip 3D face recognition. The current Magic8 also lacks that feature. So, Honor may continue to focus on other biometric options instead.
The real headline, though, is the battery. An 8,000 mAh cell inside a 6.36-inch phone would be a bold move. If true, the Magic9 could offer the biggest battery in its size class. In fact, it may even surpass the upcoming OnePlus 15T, which launches next week.
