Silicon-carbon (Si/C) batteries are rapidly emerging as the next significant advancement in smartphone power technology. This year, several brands have adopted the tech to deliver higher battery capacity without adding bulk, and devices with 6,000mAh or more are now increasingly common.
Honor joined the race earlier with the Honor GT Pro, which featured a massive 7,200mAh battery. Now, new leaks suggest the company is preparing to go even further. According to the rumors, Honor is developing a smartphone equipped with an enormous 9,000mAh Si/C battery, setting a new benchmark for battery life in mainstream smartphones.
The upcoming device will reportedly be powered by a Snapdragon flagship chipset, though it’s still unclear whether it will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 or the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
Honor hasn’t officially confirmed the phone yet, but the company is expected to announce the Magic8 series later today, alongside a few new tablets, one of which will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
If this leak proves accurate, Honor could soon redefine battery endurance in smartphones once again.
