The government has relaunched the PM Laptop Scheme 2025, giving thousands of college and university students across Pakistan the chance to receive free laptops.
For many families, affording a laptop is still difficult. The government says this scheme is meant to ease that financial burden so students can attend online classes, conduct research, and even start freelancing from home.
A major question for applicants is how to confirm if their case has been approved. To address this, the government has introduced an online system that lets students check their PM Laptop Scheme 2025 application status by simply entering their CNIC number.
Students need to visit the official website of the PM Youth Programme (laptop.pmyp.gov.pk), type in their CNIC, choose their university from the list, and instantly see whether their case is approved, under review, or rejected.
Officials have stressed that incomplete records are the main reason many applicants face rejection. To apply successfully, students should prepare:
Authorities also highlighted frequent mistakes such as entering CNIC incorrectly, using inactive phone numbers or emails, failing to update academic records, or applying multiple times with the same CNIC.
If a student’s name does not appear, the first step is to contact the university focal person. Complaints can also be filed through the PM Youth Programme helpline. In some cases, students may need to double-check CNIC details with NADRA or wait for the next round of verification if their records were recently updated.
Even after approval, delays sometimes occur in laptop distribution due to late verification from universities, incomplete documents, shipment schedules, or budget release timings. Authorities advise students to stay connected with their universities and keep their contact details up to date to avoid missing out when distribution begins.
