The Sindh government has announced a monthly fuel subsidy of Rs. 2,000 for motorcycle owners, following a similar scheme introduced by the federal government a day earlier.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah stated during a press conference on Friday that the subsidy aims to provide relief to citizens amid rising fuel prices. “The government had to take difficult decisions in the current situation,” he added.
Under the scheme, every registered motorcyclist will be eligible to receive Rs. 2,000 per month. The Excise Departmentwill soon launch a dedicated application for registration. Applicants will need to enter their CNIC number, which will verify whether the motorcycle is registered under their name.
Motorcycle owners are also required to provide their bank account details (IBAN) for payment processing. The first transfers are expected to be made around April 15.
The government has also abolished motorcycle transfer fees to make ownership transfers easier. However, motorcycles not registered under the applicant’s name will not appear in the system, and those individuals will not be eligible for the subsidy.
