Huawei’s Training Initiative Set to Equip 60,000 Pakistanis with Advanced IT Skills by 2025

Huawei Technologies has committed to offering advanced technical training to 60,000 Pakistanis, with a total of 300,000 participants set to receive training by the end of 2025. This initiative, which also includes 240,000 individuals undergoing basic IT training, was announced during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Huawei CEO Ethen Sun.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the government’s strong focus on providing technical skills to the youth of Pakistan. He stated, “Providing technical training to Pakistani youth in the field of information technology is the government’s top priority.” He further expressed a desire for a long-term, robust partnership with Huawei, adding, “We seek a strong and long-term partnership with Huawei.”
The extensive ICT training initiative from Huawei works toward expanding Pakistan’s digital export sector and creates possibilities for young people to obtain work. The initiative introduces artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, and cybersecurity educational components, which will debut at 15 universities through the cooperation between HEC and the Higher Education Commission.
Through this program, Huawei has trained more than 20,000 students in addition to providing necessary skill building to students along with trainers and ICT professionals. Specially trained master trainers from Huawei will execute this training locally to extend program access throughout different areas.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) directed a complete evaluation of training programs through independent organizations to guarantee their quality and effectiveness.
Various high-ranking officials attended the meeting, which became another vital point in Huawei’s continuous cooperation with Pakistan. Federal Minister Ahad Khan Cheema and other senior members and leaders of the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar joined Federal Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja along with HEC Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed.
With this partnership, Huawei Technologies is playing a pivotal role in Pakistan’s efforts to upskill its workforce and advance its digital economy.
