Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen have named Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne as their captain ahead of PSL 11, with the tournament scheduled to run from March 26 to May 3.
The franchise announced the decision through a 26-second video on social media, showing a private jet releasing paper leaflets over Hyderabad declaring Labuschagne as a captain.
Labuschagne had joined the Kingsmen as a direct signing before player draft for an undisclosed fee, cementing his leadership role for the debutant franchise in PSL 11.
The right-handed batter has been a consistent performer in longer formats for Australia since debuting against Pakistan in 2018, though he has played only a single T20I match.
Despite his reputation in longer formats, Labuschagne has scored 1,381 runs at an average of 26.55 in 59 T20 matches, managing eight half-centuries across his career so far.
In addition to batting, Labuschagne offers spin-bowling options in T20 cricket, taking 40 wickets at an average of 20.05, providing balance to his newly assembled squad ahead of the tournament.
Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen will open their PSL 11 campaign against Lahore Qalandars in the tournament’s curtain-raiser at Gaddafi Stadium on March 26, marking their first competitive match in league history.
