Hyderabad has officially entered the Pakistan Super League map after unveiling its franchise name and logo, marking a historic moment for cricket fans in Sindh. The new team, Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen, revealed its identity during a grand ceremony at Niaz Stadium, setting the stage for its maiden PSL campaign with ambition and star power.
The announcement was made by franchise owner Fawad Sarwar in front of a packed stadium, where fans witnessed live performances, fireworks, and a festival-like atmosphere celebrating Hyderabad’s arrival in the PSL. The Kingsmen logo, unveiled alongside the name, reflects strength and royalty, symbolizing the city’s rich heritage and competitive spirit.
Speaking at the event, Sarwar said the franchise aims to “build a team that Hyderabad can proudly call its own and one that competes fearlessly from day one.”
Hyderabad’s PSL entry had been anticipated since the league’s expansion plans were announced. The franchise quickly made headlines at the PSL draft by assembling one of the strongest squads ahead of the season. Australian star Marnus Labuschagne was signed as a marquee overseas player, while Pakistan’s Saim Ayub, currently the world’s top-ranked ICC T20 all-rounder, became the most expensive local signing in PSL history at Rs. 12.6 crore.
The Kingsmen further strengthened their lineup by signing Usman Khan in the Diamond category, Maaz Sadaqat as an Emerging Player, and Akif Javed in the Gold category, signaling clear intent to challenge for the title in their debut season.
Beyond player signings, Hyderabad have put together an experienced international coaching unit. Former Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie will lead as head coach, supported by Grant Bradburn as fielding coach, Craig White as assistant coach, Hanif Malik handling batting duties, and Zac Martin overseeing strength and conditioning.
With a strong identity, high-profile squad, and seasoned backroom staff, the Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen have positioned themselves as one of the most talked-about teams ahead of the upcoming PSL season.
