If the Salman Agha-led Pakistan fail to reach the semi-finals and Sri Lanka progress against any team other than India, Colombo will stage Semi-Final One under the ICC’s updated arrangements.
The ICC confirmed the semi-final logistics after the Super Eight stage concluded, stating that Semi-Final One will be held in Colombo or Kolkata depending on the qualification status of Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The Men in Green will play Semi-Final One in Colombo on 4 March if they advance to the knockout stage of the mega event, while Sri Lanka will occupy the same venue only if Pakistan do not advance.
If neither Pakistan nor Sri Lanka reach the semi-finals, the first semi-final will be held in Kolkata, India, while the second semi-final will take place in Mumbai, with India’s matches following a conditional scheduling system.
The Men in Blue will play in Mumbai unless facing the Green Shirts in the semi-finals, in which case the match will shift to Colombo, while other scenarios follow group rankings from the Super Eight.
Sri Lanka and Pakistan are in Group 2, ensuring they cannot meet each other in the semi-finals under the current tournament structure and scheduling guidelines provided by the cricket authority.
