The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has intensified its crackdown on electricity theft, imposing Rs13.6 million in fines and arresting 42 individuals involved in illegal power connections during October 2025.

According to an official statement, IESCO’s inspection teams checked over 94,000 meters, identifying 142 cases of direct electricity usage and 16 tampered meters across its operational areas. The drive is part of the government’s broader effort to curb line losses and ensure fair electricity distribution.

IESCO Chief Executive Engineer Ch. Khalid Mahmood said,

“Electricity theft is a national crime that harms the economy and puts an unfair burden on honest consumers. Our teams are working tirelessly with law enforcement to root it out.”

The anti-theft operations covered regions including Islamabad, Rawalpindi City, Rawalpindi Cantt, Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal, with strong support from local police.

Officials confirmed that the campaign will continue with zero tolerance toward offenders. The company also urged citizens to report electricity theft, stressing that public cooperation is essential for achieving a transparent and sustainable power system in Pakistan.
