Operations at Islamabad International Airport will remain suspended for two hours on March 16 after the Pakistan Airports Authority issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) announcing temporary restrictions in parts of the country’s airspace. During this period, commercial flights will not be able to land or take off from the airport.
According to the advisory, the suspension will remain in effect from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. The restrictions cover six sectors of the Lahore Flight Information Region, which manages a large portion of Pakistan’s northern airspace.
The aviation authority said that aircraft already in the air during the closure window will have to remain on hold until clearance is given to land. Airline pilots have also been instructed to carry extra fuel in case flights are delayed while waiting for the airspace to reopen.
Officials said the move is part of precautionary airspace management during an ongoing regional security situation. Aviation authorities often issue such notices to ensure safe aircraft movement when airspace conditions are uncertain.
Earlier this month, on March 2, the authority had also restricted certain air routes in the Karachi Flight Information Region and the Lahore region during specific hours.
