Islamabad has announced revised winter timings for all government schools and colleges, with new schedules set to take effect from December 1, 2025, until January 31, 2026. The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) issued the notification to ensure safer and more comfortable routines for students amid falling temperatures.
The notification confirms that all Islamabad Model Schools and Colleges urban and rural will follow adjusted hours during the winter period. Single shift schools will run from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm Monday to Thursday, while Friday classes will end at 12:30 pm. Montessori and Prep classes will continue only until 12:30 pm.
Early Childhood Education timings have also been revised, with ECE-I held from 8:30 am to 11:30 am and ECE-II from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. Double shift institutions will operate morning sessions from 8:15 am to 1:15 pm and evening sessions from 1:15 pm to 6:00 pm, with slight adjustments for Fridays.
Postgraduate colleges have been allowed flexibility to continue classes until either 2:00 pm or 4:00 pm depending on academic load.
An official noted that “all Area Education Officers must ensure strict compliance,” as the new schedule aims to ease student routines during colder months while keeping academic operations smooth.
The FDE emphasised that the winter schedule was approved by the Director General and will remain in effect for two months unless further extended.
