Islamabad has launched mandatory E-Tags (M-Tags) for all vehicles entering the capital, aiming to enhance security and streamline traffic management. Vehicles without the tag will be denied entry, as authorities enforce the new rule across the city.
The district administration has set up seven e-tagging facilities at Kachnar Park, Lake View Park, F-9 Park, Islamabad Club, Tarlai Kalan, Chungi No. 26, and Gulberg Green. Citizens can get their E-Tags affixed from 9am to 9pm, while Excise Office timings start after 3pm. Existing M-Tag holders are exempt.
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon said,
“These measures are being implemented to ensure both the security and convenience of Islamabad’s residents.”
Motorcyclists are under special scrutiny, and FWO booths at Chungi No. 26 and motorway points provide additional tagging services. The tag costs Rs. 250, with a potential increase of Rs. 50.
This initiative is part of Islamabad’s broader push toward smart city management and improved urban security infrastructure.
