Islamabad IT Park to Launch on August 14

Islamabad: The Ministry of Information Technology has announced that the Islamabad Information Technology Park will officially open its doors on August 14. Designed to catalyze growth in the tech sector, the state-of-the-art facility will provide purpose-built spaces for startups, freelancers, and export-focused IT companies.
Spread across 66,893 square meters, the multi-story complex will include two basements, a ground level, and nine upper floors, offering a total of 120 office units tailored for IT and IT-enabled services (ITeS) businesses. A dedicated startup incubation center with 15 office spaces is also part of the plan, aimed at nurturing early-stage ventures.
A Ministry official emphasized the project’s potential to serve as a technology hub for the capital. “The Islamabad IT Park is more than just office space—it’s a comprehensive ecosystem that supports business development, innovation, and collaboration,” the official said.
The facility will incorporate a business support center that offers legal services, financial consultation, and marketing services to resident companies, in addition to workspace areas. The industry-academia linkage center, which aims to bring together educational institutions and IT organizations, will be a critical component of the park. The establishment’s objective is to improve industrial collaboration between educational institutions and the IT industry through this initiative.
The facility will house Pakistan’s inaugural Tier III-certified data center, which will provide the nation’s digital sector with robust information security and uncompromised power reliability. “This data center will be one of the most advanced in the country, marking a significant milestone in our national IT capabilities,” the official added.
The Islamabad IT Park is part of a broader government initiative to enhance technological infrastructure across Pakistan. The government is constructing another facility to serve Karachi Airport, in addition to the Islamabad facility, to demonstrate its dedication to expanding IT exports.
According to Ministry reports, the IT parks will satisfy Pakistan’s fundamental technological infrastructure requirements, provide technology exchange platforms, and facilitate the commercialization of research and innovation. These facilities will fortify the collaborative relationships between academic institutions and industries, thereby fostering the essential growth of Pakistan’s knowledge economy.
With the formal inauguration just months away, the Islamabad IT Park represents a bold step toward positioning Pakistan as a regional hub for technology, innovation, and digital entrepreneurship.
