Islamabad Opens Two M-Tag Centers for 24/7 Service

Published by

In a major relief for motorists, the Islamabad Excise Department has announced round-the-clock operations at two key M-Tag centers, making it easier for citizens to obtain motorway toll tags at any time. The move is aimed at reducing inconvenience, long queues, and traffic congestion at toll plazas.

Director General Excise Irfan Memon confirmed that M-Tag centers at 26 Number Chungi and Satra Meel (Phulgran) Toll Plaza will now operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. “Citizens can visit these centers at any hour to get their M-Tags issued,” he said, adding that the department is committed to improving public facilitation.

Alongside the 24/7 service, operating hours have also been extended at other M-Tag counters in the capital. Centers at Kachnar Park (Sector I-8) and Sector F-9 Park will now remain open until 12:00 a.m. (midnight), further expanding access for vehicle owners.

M-Tags are mandatory for vehicles using Pakistan’s motorways and major toll roads. In recent months, limited counter hours and rising traffic volumes have caused delays for motorists, especially during peak travel times. By extending service hours, authorities aim to streamline toll collection, improve traffic flow, and ensure smoother journeys for commuters and intercity travelers.

DG Excise Irfan Memon noted that the decision was taken specifically to reduce public difficulties and enhance efficiency at toll plazas. He expressed confidence that the initiative would provide “significant relief and convenience” to the public.
