Islamabad police have been equipped with net launchers, a non-lethal tool for handling protesters, as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) prepares to march on the capital.
The federal government supplied the modern devices, according to an official statement. They could be used for the first time if PTI rallies reach Islamabad.
A video released with the statement shows a police official demonstrating the launcher. The device fires a mesh net at a person identified as a potential threat.
The net restricts the movement of a person, allowing officers to subdue them and limiting their ability to retaliate.
