Islamabad Residents Can Now Recharge and Renew M‑Tags at Eight New Spots
Citizens of Islamabad now have easier access to M‑Tag services, as the Capital Development Authority (CDA) expands its network across the city. The new service points allow residents to apply for a new M‑Tag, renew details, or recharge accounts without enduring long queues. The initiative comes amid growing efforts to modernize vehicle management and streamline traffic flow in the capital.
The newly operational locations include:
- Kachnar Park (I‑8)
- Excise & Taxation Office (H‑9)
- Islamabad Club
- Lake View Park
- F‑9 Park
- Tarlai
- 26 Number Chungi
- Gulberg Greens (newly operational)
M‑Tags, which are small RFID-based devices used for toll payments and vehicle tracking, have become a key component of Islamabad’s smart city and cashless transport strategy. The tags help authorities manage traffic, monitor vehicles, and improve citywide surveillance under the Safe City project. Motorists must carry a valid CNIC and vehicle registration documents to register or update their tags.
Officials say the expansion will reduce waiting times, improve convenience, and further integrate technology into Islamabad’s traffic system.
