Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced strict timing restrictions for heavy vehicles entering the federal capital, allowing entry only during late-night hours. The move aims to reduce daytime congestion and enhance road safety for residents.
Heavy trucks, trailers, and other large vehicles have long contributed to traffic jams and safety hazards in Islamabad, especially during peak hours. The new regulation is part of ITP’s broader effort to improve city traffic management.
Under the new rule, heavy vehicles will only be permitted in Islamabad between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m. Daytime entry is fully prohibited.
Chief Traffic Officer Capt. (R) Hamzah Humayun stated,
“We have intensified enforcement against traffic violations. Vehicles with black-tinted windows and motorcyclists carrying three passengers will face strict penalties.”
The ITP will also coordinate with bus terminal operators to ensure compliance and maintain smooth traffic flow across the city.
The department plans regular emergency meetings with transport stakeholders and emphasizes public awareness campaigns to support safe and orderly traffic management.
